Orthodontics Phitsanulok, Thailand

Braces help align your teeth properly, improve chewing efficiency, and make it easier to clean your teeth. If you want to smile with confidence, get your braces with us at Wise Dental Clinic, Phitsanulok.

Treatment Types

Orthodontic treatment can be divided into two main types: metal braces and clear aligners.

Metal braces use metal brackets and wires attached to the teeth to help move them into the desired position. The brackets remain in the mouth at all times, and patients must visit the dentist regularly every month for adjustments.

Clear aligners, on the other hand, are custom-made transparent plastic trays designed specifically for each patient. They can be removed and reinserted, but require patient cooperation in wearing them as instructed in order to move the teeth to the desired position. If patients are consistent in wearing their aligners, they won’t need to visit the dentist as often.

Both metal braces and clear aligners are suitable for different patients and tooth alignment conditions. You should consult with your dentist to choose the most appropriate orthodontic option for you.

Dental Cleaning Process

Before getting braces, it is important to have a thorough dental cleaning and address any existing oral health issues. Since braces involve attaching metal brackets inside the mouth, maintaining oral hygiene becomes more challenging for both the patient and the dentist. If you have tartar buildup or tooth decay, these should be treated first by filling cavities and scaling away tartar. Otherwise, untreated decay or tartar can progress and may eventually lead to the loss of affected teeth.

Should You Extract/Remove Wisdom Tooth Before Getting Braces?

Before getting braces, tooth extraction or wisdom tooth removal may be necessary in some cases. This is because certain orthodontic treatments require extra space to move the teeth or to shift them backward. Therefore, it is often necessary to remove wisdom teeth and extract premolars before starting braces, so that the teeth can be moved in the direction the orthodontist intends. However, this depends on your individual treatment plan. You should always consult your dentist before starting orthodontic treatment. At Wise Dental Clinic, your needs are our top priority. We will inform you of the necessity, explain both the advantages and disadvantages, and obtain your consent before proceeding with any tooth extraction or wisdom tooth removal.
